Cordoba Mosque main entrance

The main entrance to Cordoba Mosque is through the Puerta de Deanes or the Door of the Deans, this entrance will take you to the Courtyard of the Orange Trees or Patio de los Naranjos. We recommend using this entrance in the morning particularly between 08:30 and 09:30, as there will be fewer tourists and shorter waiting times. The wait time to get inside Cordoba Mosque could be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or longer. We recommend getting skip the line tickets or opting for guided tours to avoid waiting in line.

Cordoba Mosque Entrances | Door of Deanes

Puerta de Deanes (Door of Deans)

The Door of Deanes, which stands on the western side of the courtyard, is where you start your guided tour if you’ve chosen that option. This entrance is located on Torrijos street. According to some historians, the Door of the Deans is one of the oldest standing doors in the Cordoba Mosque. Visitors with tickets and even those without tickets should use this entrance. This is the main entrance and thus is wheelchair accessible.

How to reach? You can take bus routes 3 and 12, get down at the nearest bus stop Puerta del Puente and walk to the entrance. 

Entrance timings: The entrance timings are from 10 am to 7 pm on Mondays to Saturdays. On Sundays and other holidays, the entrance is open from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, and again from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Puerta del Perdon (Door of Forgiveness)

The Puerta del Perdon, also known as the Door of Forgiveness, holds immense ritual significance within the cathedral. Situated at the base of the bell tower and directly across from the Puerta de las Palmas, this entrance has a rich history dating back to the Islamic period.Its strategic location aligns perfectly with the mihrab of the mosque and the central axis of the building.

How to reach? Visitors coming by train can get down at Cordoba Railway Station and walk or book a cab to the mosque. You can directly go to Bell Tower, where this door is located.

Puerta de Santa Catalina

Puerta de Santa Catalina ( Door of Saint Catherine )

The Puerta de Santa Catalina, also known as the Door of Saint Catherine, is the main entrance on the eastern side of the Courtyard of the Oranges. It was named after the nearby Convent of Saint Catherine. The gate was redesigned by Hernan Ruiz II in 1547, taking over from his father, Hernan Ruiz I, who had passed away.

How to reach? Visitors coming by car can drive down from Cordoba City Centre. Cordoba Mosque is 4 kilometers away and the journey by car takes about 15 minutes. There is parking available nearby.

Wheelchair-accessible entrance 

The Cordoba Mosque and Cathedral are wheelchair accessible. Visitors with disabilities can enter the attraction through the Door of the Deans. There are ramps strategically positioned throughout the Cordoba Mosque to provide easy access to every area of the complex. The choir, however, is not wheelchair friendly. Supports and benches are positioned throughout the path in case you need a break.

Which Cordoba Mosque entrance do i choose?

The Mezquita has only one main entrance, the Door of the Deans. The Patio de Los Naranjos, the main courtyard of the building, can also be accessed through the Door of Forgiveness or the Door of Saint Catherine.

Queues at Mezquita Córdoba

Once you enter the premises, you’ll find queues at the ticketing counters in the Patio de los Naranjos. If you have your tickets booked in advance, you can walk to the entrance, display your tickets, and head right in. 

There are two queues at the entrance to Cordoba Mosque - one for online reservations and one for the ticket counter.

Online reservations queue: Visitors who have online tickets - regular, skip the line, or guided tours, can enter using this line. Keep in mind that if you have skip the line tickets or guided tour tickets, you don’t need to wait in line.

Ticket counter: Guests who do not have online tickets can stand in line at the ticket counter to purchase tickets. There is a separate line to enter the mosque-cathedral for guests who have purchased tickets at the counter, which is significantly longer.
